Fall-Break - Trip to OSH
Hello everybody.
Here are the most recent pictures from my trip to Osh, south of Kyrgyzstan. I visited my grannies who live in two different villages. These picture were taken when I was at my granny's from my mother's side and some from the Osh city
My family once or twice a year visits most of our relatives who live in the south. It is important to stay in touch with relatives in our life, it is a part of our culture, that's why we try to visit our relatives who live in villages at least once a year. This autumn practically in 5 days we(my two brothers & I) visited most of our relatives. In the picture above there are my granny and her two grandchildren and my four aunts(my mother's siblings) sitting next to me.
In this picture my aunt(my mother's youngest brother's wife) and my uncle (my grandfather's little brother's son) are preparing the dinner in the big pot full of meat. My aunt is washing the sheep's head before putting it into the boiling pot. Then the head is served to the most honored guests. And my uncle is just watching and controlling the fire.
In the picture below, you can see the way to cut a sheep. First the sheep is tied tightly in its legs, then one cuts its throat and lets the blood drain the body. After that the body is hang on its hinder leg and the skin is carefully taken off. The good skin serves several purposes. In the past people used them for clothing and households, however, nowadays people sell them. Then the body is divided in its joints into many parts, each part has its name and value. The most valueable is served to the eldest among the guests. The internal parts are used in making different meals.
Dona Iberia asked me if I helped to cut and if I ate meat. I helped to hung the body, it was heavy, and of cource I ate meat, because my uncle ordered to cut the sheep in honor of the guest. And as a guest I receive a big piece ofcooked meat.
